SWAMI Vivekananda Culture Centre of the Indian Embassy in Yangon hosted a commemorative ceremony of the World Hindi Day on 10 January.

 

Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Shri Abhay Thakur and distinguished guests ignited oil lights to mark the World Hindi Day 2025, according to the Indian Ambas­sador to Myanmar.

 

The ceremony aimed to enhance learning of Hindi language in Myanmar as Indi language is playing a key role in the international community.

 

The Ambassador in his speech re­marked: “Hindi language is one of the significant languages worldwide, and its coverage over educational and knowledge arenas is booming across the world. So, we all are proud of its role”.

 

On the occasion, various compe­titions on recitation of poems in Hindi language, quiz in general knowledge and writing essay took place for students and teachers. Moreover, the book titled “Hin­di: Vishwa bandutav ki bhasha” written by director Shri Ashish Khandhway was introduced to the audiences.

 

The Indian Ambassador distributed textbooks to the Hindi language schools in Myanmar so as to promote Hindi ed­ucation.

 

Cultural entertainments were pre­sented at the ceremony which came to an end with singing the national anthem.

 

Also present at the commemorative ceremony was joined by Deputy Head of Mission of Indian Embassy Shri Ashish Sharma, representatives from UP Bihar Parishad, Ramayana Prachar Prasar Samiti, Yangon-Myanmar Hindi Teachers’ Association and Arya Samaj in addition to schools under the management of various religions, those who are interested in Hindi language, writers and responsible persons from cultural and educational arenas. — Htun Htun/TTA
