Mawlamyaing Gyun, March 26

Old ammunition including hand grenades and bullets was unearthed in a ward in the town of Mawlamyaing Gyun in Ayeyarwady region yesterday.

The ammunition was found when a mason named U Win Naing was digging holes in which to erect house poles in the land plot that belongs to Daw In Gyin in the town.

Upon information received, military officers from the local battalion together with local police officers inspected the ammunition. The old ammunition includes 37 rounds of 9 mm pistol, 20 rounds of 7.62 riffle, two BA91 hand-grenades, and 72 rounds of different kinds.

The unearthed old ammunition was sent to the local battalion. The local police kept a careful watch on the house compound to ban people from entering into it.—Maung Yin Oo (Dala)
