Taunggyi, 24 October


One person was killed and five others were injured in multiple traffic accident in Taunggyi, Shan State on 22 October, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.


The accident took place between milepost 109/5 and 109/6 on the Taunggyi-Ayethayar Road at about 4 p.m. on 22 October when a passenger bus rear ended a light truck with five people on board due to faulty breaking system. The light truck also hit a six-wheeled truck in the incident, killing one man on the spot and injuring five others.


The injured people were sent to a nearby pubic hospital in Taunggyi and the driver of the passenger bus identified as Thet Lwin Phyo, 24 years old is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.
