An armed man has killed one person and wounded several others at a vocational college in Finland.

The man carrying a bladed weapon and a gun attacked people in the college in a shopping center in the eastern city of Kuopio on Tuesday.

Police say 10 people, including the attacker, were wounded. The suspect has been taken into custody.

Local media say the person who died was a female student.

A media report quoted a witness as saying the attacker was a student at the school. Police are investigating the motive for the attack.
