One dead, three hurt as car plunges into ravine in Taungup Township

One person was killed and four others injured after a car plunged into a ravine in Taungup Township, Rakhine State, the Ministry of Home Affairs reported.

The fatal accident occurred between mileposts 14/6 and 14/7 on the Taungup-Maei Road at about 8:30 a.m. on 27 March. A car three people aboard driven by a man named Zaw Naing Win, 30, from Bu Shwe Maw Village, Taungup Township fell into a gorge after the driver lost control of the car.

A 54-year old man identified as U Khin Maung Win died on the spot and three others sustained minor injuries in the incident. The driver is being questioned over reckless driving by the local people.—MOHA
