One woman has died and three others were seriously injured after a fishing boat was hit by a fun-boat in Chaingtha, a popular beach resort for holidaymakers and vacationists in Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Region on 21 October.


Local authorities rushed to the scene of accident and found that a fun-boat heading to a small island in the sea with four people on board rear ended with a fishing boat about two furlongs from Ward-1, Chaungtha at about 10 a.m. yesterday. Four people—one boat operator and three passengers—were hurt in the incident.


One of the injured women identified as Ma San Nu Wai was pronounced dead on arrival at a public hospital in Pathein while being transferred from a station hospital in Chaungtha. The fun-boat operator is being questioned by the local police for reckless driving.
