One rescued, four feared dead in Phakant jade mine collapse

FOUR people are missing after a suspended jade mine collapsed near Ba La Kha Village in Phakant Township, Kachin State on Saturday, according to Phakant Township police force.

 

One has been rescued, and a search for the missing -- Tan Gun, 25, Tu Rain, 28, Tan Gun, 24, and Sangan Tan Gun, 32, -- is continuing. The collapsed jade mine which has been suspended at that time is run by the company Phyo Thiha.

 

Phakant Township police led by Police Captain Min Zaw, and officials have inspected the collapsed site, and identified the rescued as Naw San, 32. Naw San got injured and is now under treatment at the Hpakant General Hospital.—Win Naing (Kachin Myay) (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
