A ceremony to open a self-reliant basis coeducational day pre-primary school of Maternal and Child Welfare Association was held in Theinseik Ward in the town of Thuwanawaddy, Thaton Township, Mon State at about 9:00 am on 2 May.

During the ceremony, Chairman of the Township Administration Council U Zin Maung Maung delivered an opening remark. After that, Assistant Director of the District Department of Social Welfare Daw Khin Moh Moh and the Township Administrator U Myint Naing Win discussed the future education of children and explained about matters relating to the construction works of the school. Afterwards, U Tun Aung (retired headmaster) spoke words of thanks.

The one-story reinforced concrete school facility measuring 24 ft. in length and 60 ft. in width was built with Ks. 19.00 million including Ks. 1 million contributed by the Town Maternal and Child Welfare Association and Ks. 18.00 million contributed by well-wishers. Construction works of the school began on 13 November last year. Well-wishers and community leaders attended the event.—Khun(Winpa)
