The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various programs, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), to detect and seize illegal timber and forest products in collaboration with the public.

According to reports from the Nay Pyi Taw, State, and Region Forest Departments, a total of 114.28 tons of illegal timber were seized between February 17 and 23 this year across the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, States, and Regions. The haul included 15.47 tons of illegal teak, 32.16 tons of hardwood, and 66.64 tons of other types of timber.

Additionally, six vehicles and machines were seized, and 23 individuals were arrested in connection with the case.— MNA
