Kyaikdon Town in Kawkareik District in Kayin State has been submerged by floodwaters from the Hongtharaw River following severe rains.

Some flood victims moved to three temporary relief camps in the area due to flooding. A group of local authorities led by Town Administrator U Min Zaw presented 39 rice bags provided by the Kayin State government to flood victims on 10 August.

Presently, a total of 1239 flood victims—623 men and 616 women—from 271 households are taking shelter at three temporary rescue camps.—IPRD
