The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation continues its efforts to combat illegal timber trade through various enforcement measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), in collaboration with local communities.

According to reports from the Nay Pyi Taw Council area and state and regional forest departments, a total of 26.28 tons of illegal timber were seized between 23 and 29 June. The confiscated timber includes 7.04 tons of teak, 0.6908 tons of hardwood, and 18.54 tons of other wood varieties.

As part of the crackdown, three vehicles and machinery used in illegal logging were impounded, and six individuals were taken into custody in connection with the seizures.— MNA
