This 2018-2019 FY, a total of 273,970 acres of land have been put under cultivation of monsoon paddy in 19 townships in seven districts in Sagaing Region, according to an official from Sagaing Region Department of Agriculture.
The department has put 558 acres of land under cultivation of monsoon paddy in two townships in Sagaing District, 3,026 acres in three townships in Monywa district, 20 acres in three townships in Yinmarbin district, 253,583 acres in six townships in Shwebo District, 13,958 acres in a township in Kantbalu District, 136 acres in two townships in Katha District, 2,689 acres in two townships in Kalay District, totaling 273,970 acres in Sagaing Region.
In last fiscal year, the department put 803 acres of land under cultivation of monsoon paddy in two townships in Sagaing District, 9,506 acres in three townships in Monywa District, 115 acres in three townships in Yinmarbin District, 367,012 acres in six townships in Shwebo District, 32,035 acres in a township in Knatbalu District, 22 acres in two townships in Katha District, 4,710 acres in two townships in Kalay District, 102 acres in Tamu Township in Tamu District, totaling 414,305 acres in Sagaing.
Of which a total of 414,170 acres of monsoon paddy plantation had been reaped with a yield of 82.35 baskets per acre, according to the records of Regional Department of Agriculture.
