MORE than 340 people from Myawady town, Kayin State were found infected with the COVID-19 virus within two weeks, resulting in seven deaths as of 6 July, according to the public health department.
From 21 June to 5 July, there were a total of 342 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Myawady town. Seven deaths have been reported after contracting COVID-19 including two deaths on 5 July and one death on 6 July, according to the Myawady health department.
Those confirmed COVID-19 patients are being treated at Maekanae COVID centre, Kyauk Lone Gyi rescue camp in ward 4, Shwe Myawady new market, Myawady district hospital and Thingan Nyi Naung military hospital.
The schools are also closed for two weeks after more patients are found infected with COVID-19 in No. 1 high school in Myawady town.
More quarantine centres have been opened in Myawady township of Kayin State to handle the growing number of COVID-19 infections in the township.
The township municipal committee has instructed every restaurant and teashop in the Myawady region to adopt only a take-away system. — Aye Maung/GNLM
