Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various programs, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), to detect and seize illegal timber and forest products in collaboration with the people.

According to the reports sent by the Nay Pyi Taw, State and Region Forest Departments from December 30 to January 5, a total of 38.56 tons of timber including 14.75 tons of illegal teak, 3.06 tons of hardwood and 20.74 tons of other types of timber were seized in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, States and Regions.

In addition, eight vehicles and machines, and 20 people were apprehended in connection with the case in the country.—MNA
