The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing various programs, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), to detect and seize illegal timber and forest products in collaboration with the public.
According to reports from the Nay Pyi Taw, State, and Region Forest Departments, a total of 41.80 tons of illegal timber were seized between 3 to 9 March this year across the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, States, and Regions. The haul included 10.09 tons of illegal teak, 10.14 tons of hardwood, and 21.56 tons of other types of timber.
Additionally, three vehicles and machines were seized, and 10 individuals were arrested in connection with the case.— MNA
