During the monsoon season, a total of 627103 acres of oil crops have been cultivated in Townships in Naga Self-Administered Zone and nine Districts in Sagaing Region, according to Regional Officer from Sagaing Region Department of Agriculture U Win Hlaing.


“It is estimated to cultivate over 825000 acres of oil crops in the region during monsoon season and over 600000 acres of oil crops have been planted in the region until the end of June. Officials from the Department of Agriculture went to the farmlands and shared agricultural practice and preventative measures for the risk of pests”, he added.


A total of 33183 acres of oil crops in Sagaing District, 107909 acres in Monywa District, 226829 acres in Yinmarbin District, 171579 acres in Shwebo District, 36270 acres in Kantbalu District, 434 acres in Katha District, 50213 acres in Kalay District, 80 acres in Mawlaik District, 144 acres in Khamti District and 462 acres in Naga Self-Administered Zone have respectively been cultivated in the region.
