Kawthoung 21 August

A total of 83 Myanmar migrant workers including 73 men and 10 women were sent back from Thailand through the Kawthoung border gate yesterday evening for not holding proper documentation.

Thai authorities brought the Myanmar migrant workers to Kawthoung via sea route and handed them over to their Myanmar counterparts in Kawthoung.

The Thai government had arrested them as they did not have work permits, and were found holding expired border passes.

The returnees were welcomed by officials from the office of Kawthoung District Administration, the Township GAD, Department of the township labor, Immigration and Population, the Anti-human Trafficking Police Force, Labor Department and the Disaster Management Department.
