                Local residents in Kawhmu Township, Twante District, Yangon Region rely on agriculture for their livelihoods and it is targeted to grow over 85,000 acres of paddy during this monsoon season, according to an official from the Township Department of Agriculture.

                With the aims of ensuring food security, promoting quality of agricultural products and expanding market opportunities, Chairman and members of Township Administration Committee, officials from the Township Department of Agriculture and related departments conducted public awareness campaigns how to use seeder in rice cultivation.

                In the township, a total of 88,087 acres of monsoon paddy was grown in 2024-2025 FY and 5,886,854 baskets were harvested. This year, a total of 88,099 acres of monsoon paddy will be cultivated, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
