A total of 969 people — 919 males and 50 females — were charged under Penal Code Section 188 for violating curfew across the country during this week, according to Myanmar Police Force. Police also arrested a total of 193 people from 11 KTV/Bars, 16 illegal massage parlors and 7 whorehouses in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and in regions and states between 4 and 10 September for violating COVID-19 rules.

Among them, 3 are female sex workers from a whorehouse in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area; 6 are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of a KTV and a massage parlour in Kachin State; 7 are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of a KTV and an illegal massage parlour in Kayin State. Twenty-three are owners, managers, staff and sex workers of 2 KTV/Bars and 2 whorehouses in Sagaing Region; 7 are female sex workers from a whorehouse in Taninthayi Region; and 17 are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of a KTV and 2 illegal massage parlours in Bago Region. Twenty-six are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of a KTV and 2 illegal massage parlours in Magway Region; 7 are owners, massage parlour girls and sex workers of an illegal massage parlour and a whorehouse in Mandalay Region; and 12 are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of 2 KTV/Bars and 2 illegal massage parlours in Mon State.

Fifteen are owners, managers, staff and massage parlour girls of 2 KTV/Bars and 6 illegal massage parlours in Yangon Region; 58 are owners, managers, staff, massage parlour girls and sex workers of a KTV, an illegal massage parlor and 2 whorehouses in Shan State; and 12 are owner, manager and staff of a KTV in Ayeyawady Region. Police has been conducting law enforcement activities to take actions against illegal opening of KTV lounges, bars and illegal massage parlours without abiding by COVID-19 rules and to catch curfew breakers. Therefore, they urged the public to cooperate with them in the law enforcement process.—MNA
