Meiktila, 11 July

An overheated air conditioner unit installed in Relax KTV in Kyidawgon Ward in the Town of Meiktila, Mandalay Region caused a fire at about 6:00 pm on July 10, according to the District Fire Services Department. 

The fire was believed to have started from an overheated AC unit on the first floor of the KTV which is 30 ft. in length and 20 ft. in width owned by U Zin Min in Kyidawgon Ward in the Town of Meiktila and burned down sofa chairs, projectors, VCD players, sound boxes, soundproof corks in the KTV and the decorative glass for outside of the KTV.

A combined team comprising fire fighters from the District Fire Services Department rushed to the incident scene to put out the fire in collaboration with auxiliary firefighters and locals using seven fire engines and a water tanker, and the blaze was completely extinguished.

The owner of KTV U Zin Min was charged for his negligence at No. (2) Police Station in Meiktila.—Thein Myint Kyaw(Meiktila)
