Forestry officials seized illegal timber logs in Pale Township, Sagaing Region on Saturday, according to the township management committee.
A group of local authorities comprising officials from the Forest Department and policemen from the Forest Police Force, and village administrators went to a scene about two miles southeast of Ledhamma Village at around 4:30 p.m. yesterday based on an anonymous tipoff. They confiscated different sizes of ownerless sewn timber logs weighing 12.1858 tons, a lumber mill and equipment used in timber extraction. The confiscated timber logs are currently being kept at a local timber production camp.

The forest police force has been stepping up efforts to arrest the people, who are illegally engaged in the timber production by making field trips to different areas, according to the township management committee.
