A ceremony to wrap up a teacher training course on Pa-O language was held at a monastery in Ma-U daw village of Sapachon village-tract in Daik-U Township, Bago region yesterday morning with an opening speech by U Khin Maung Gyi, patron of Bago Region Pa-O Literature and Culture Association.
The aim of the course is to preserve and maintain literature, dialect, culture, customs and traditions of Pa-O ethnics, said U Khin Maung Gyi. Then, Khun Myint Soe, chairman of Bago Region Pa-O Literature and Culture Association and U Kyaw Myo Lat, deputy township administrator of Daik-U Township made remarks, followed by extensive presentation about literatures of other ethnic people.
Then, five first prizes, five second prizes, five third prizes and ten consolation prizes were given to outstanding trainees. 84 would-be teacher trainees and 74 ordinary trainees, totaling 158, from Yedashe, Htantabin, Kyaukkyi, Kyauktaga, Daik-U, Bago and Kawa Townships from Bago region attended the course that ran from April 1 to 11.—Kyaw Kyaw (IPRD)
