A graduation and prize-giving ceremony for a free summer English-speaking course was held on 17 May at the For Life monastery in Pakokku.

 

At the ceremony, the pre­siding Sayadaw of the For Life monastery in Pakokku, Bhadd­anta Khemacāra, delivered the opening address. On behalf of the judging panel, Daw Hnin Hnin Wai, Founder of Mother Land Language School, explained the scoring rules for the Eng­lish-speaking skills competition.

 

Prizes were then awarded to the winners of the speaking competition, including first, sec­ond, third and consolation prizes. After the award presentation, trainees performed songs and dances to entertain the audience in celebration.

 

The course ran from the first week of March 2026 to 17 May and provided systematic training in listening, speaking, writing and reading skills. A total of 355 trainees attended the course.

 

According to the presiding Sayadaw Bhaddanta Khemaca­ra, the free summer Eng­lish-speaking course has been conducted since 2010 and has trained over 30,000 students to date. Around 100 participants have secured employment op­portunities abroad, while approx­imately 20 have taken up posi­tions in basic education schools and universities. — Bamitha (Pakokku)/MKKS
