Some homes in Setthit Ward, Thanbyuzayet Township in Mon State were submerged about one foot of floodwaters following incessant rains swept through the township since yesterday evening.

 

About 110 residents from 25 households from Kyaung Pine Ward were evacuated to a post primary school. Members of the township disaster management committee, firefighters, Red Cross members and policemen were involved in the evacuation process of flood victims. Some residential areas, roads, homes and shops in downtown Thanbyuzayet were inundated by floodwaters.

 

A bridge on the Thanbyuzayet-Mawlamyine Road was submerged by floodwaters due to torrential rains, resulting in the temporary suspension of traffic. Firefighters, volunteers from local social organizations and security personnel took part in the evacuation of the travelers and vehicles.—Aye Aye Thi (IPRD)
