Myawady, 12 September
One person died and 35 people were injured after a passenger bus flipped over on the Myawady-Kawkareik Road in Myawady Township, Kayin State on 10 September.
The accident took place between mileposts 158 and 159 on the Myawady-Kawkareik Road at around 1:45 p.m. on 10 September when a passenger bus driven by U Tin Myint, 46 years old with 40 people overturned on the slope of a mountain. The incident is attributed to have started from a faculty braking system of the bus. The bus driver managed to flee the scene but one woman was killed on the spot and 35 people were hurt in the incident.
One woman out of the injured sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a public hospital in Myawady. Action is being taken against the bus driver who is still on the run.—MOHA
