No casualties were reported after a passenger bus caught fire in Danubyu Township, Ayeyawady Region, according to a source from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The accident took place between mileposts 24/1 and 24/2 on the Yangon-Pathein Road near Zeebyugon Village in Danubyu Township at about 5:30 p.m. on 19 November. A passenger bus caught fire which is believed to have started from a gas explosion of the vehicle’s engine and had ceased 20 minutes later. The passenger bus with 20 people was driven by a man identified as Htet Aung Kyaw, 35 years and was heading to Mandalay from Hinthada.

The vehicle was badly damaged by the fire but no one was injured. The passenger bus driver is being questioned over reckless driving by the local police.—MOHA
