THE Peace Forum 2025, themed “Towards a New Nation of Peace and Prosperity through the Integration of Peace, Elections and Development”, entered its second day at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, committee secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, committee members, retired Tatmadaw officers, representatives of JMC, political parties, NCA-signatories and non-signatories, participants in peace processes, technicians, intellectuals, directors-general of ministries concerned and organizations, rectors of universities, representatives of international and local NGOs and other observers. They are divided into two discussion groups: Group 1 and Group 2.
During the morning session, both groups discussed under the theme: “Successfully Holding Elections”.
In the afternoon, Group 1 discussed “identifying ways to enhance cooperation for peace, transparent electoral processes, and the State stability and development,” while Group 2 about “exploration of the international community’s role in supporting peace and development efforts in building a democracy and federalism-based Union in the post-election period”.
Participants coordinated the discussion, and the third day of the forum will be on 27 June. — MNA/KTZH
