THE Peace Forum 2025, themed “Towards a New Nation of Peace and Prosperity through the In­tegration of Peace, Elections and Development”, entered its second day at the Mingalar Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

It was attended by National Solidarity and Peacemaking Ne­gotiation Committee Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, committee secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, committee members, retired Tatmadaw officers, represent­atives of JMC, political parties, NCA-signatories and non-sig­natories, participants in peace processes, technicians, intellec­tuals, directors-general of min­istries concerned and organi­zations, rectors of universities, representatives of international and local NGOs and other ob­servers. They are divided into two discussion groups: Group 1 and Group 2.

 

During the morning session, both groups discussed under the theme: “Successfully Holding Elections”.

 

In the afternoon, Group 1 discussed “identifying ways to enhance cooperation for peace, transparent electoral processes, and the State stability and devel­opment,” while Group 2 about “exploration of the international community’s role in supporting peace and development efforts in building a democracy and federalism-based Union in the post-election period”.

 

Participants coordinated the discussion, and the third day of the forum will be on 27 June. — MNA/KTZH
