GENERALLY, travelling declines in the pre-monsoon season, but foreign visitors from China, South Korea and India have visited the country, according to the Union of Myanmar Travel Association.

Both local and foreign tourist arrivals have been lower in pre-monsoon compared to the dry season, however, people have gone on trips to some destinations where rainfall is low and beautiful natural landscapes are present.

“Visitor arrival usually decreases from May to September, even though there are visitors in some destinations. At present, we have seen the arrival of Chinese, Korean and Indian,” said a UMTA official.

The majority of foreign tourists have travelled to Bagan and Inlay as well as Yangon and Mandalay regions. And most of the locals have gone on vacation in India’s Bodh Gaya, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, and marketing for a new overseas destination, Pakistan, has been introduced now. — MT/ZS
