As the New Year arrived and the Old Year departed, people across the na­tion joyfully welcomed the New Year 2024 with New Year Countdown Live Shows and market festivities.

Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of Myanmar, was bustling with the happy movements of people at public areas such as Ocean Super Centre, Junction Centre, and Nay­pyitaw Wholesale, as well as eminent religious monuments. Significantly, the New Year Countdown Live Show and mar­ket festivities were crowded with people seeking relaxation, aiming to join the New Year with relentless efforts to participate in nation-building endeavours.

 

All participants at the countdown show chanted “Happy New Year” simul­taneously at midnight as part of an active and warm welcome to New Year 2024 with the launch of fireworks.

 

An official letter revoking the curfew order for just a day on 31 December was dispatched to all district authorities, al­lowing people to joyfully participate in the New Year festivities, countdown shows, and entertainment programmes.

 

Significant buildings in Nay Pyi Taw were illuminated throughout the night of New Year for the relaxation of the people.

 

Similarly, Yangonites joined the Yangon New Year Count­down at the People’s Square and Thuwanabumi Event Park on 31 December with entertainments featuring artistes, vocalists, DJs, and dancer troupes. Public plac­es in Yangon city were bustling with merrymakers.

 

The New Year festival was arranged at the corner of 26th and 66th streets in Mandalay for hap­py public participation. Dwellers of Mandalay city enjoyed enter­tainments featuring artistes ac­companied by modern bands and a Myanmar orchestra. People prayed for everyone’s physical and mental well-being. — GNLM
