Hsi Hseng, 14 November

Authorities destroyed 28 acres of blooming poppies in Hsi Hseng Township, the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone of Southern Shan State yesterday, according to the Township Police Station.

 

A combined team comprising police members from the Township Police Station, the Tatmadaw members and local authorities destroyed six acres of one and a half feet high poppy plants about one mile east of Htide Village, eight acres of one and a half feet high poppy plants about one mile south-east of Nakaik Village and 14 acres of one and a half feet high poppy plants about three miles north-west of Bangnaungka Village in the Township at about 9:20 am on November 13.

 

Local police members led by the Township Police Chief Police Major Maung Maung Kyaw and The Township Deputy police chief Win Zaw Oo, the Tatmadaw members from No. 424 Khamaya  and No. 426 Khamaya, members of PNO militia, village administrators, members of the Township Fire Services Department and villagers participated in the event.

 

Authorities have destroyed 125 acres of poppy plantations between November 10 and 13 this year in Hsi Hseng Township, Shan State (South).—Myo Myat (Hsi Hseng)
