A combined squad led by the deputy head of the township police force annihilated 34.5 acres of poppy fields near Nangnein Village in Pinlaung Township, Southern Shan State on November.
Similarly, a local anti-drug team headed by the head of the township police force destroyed nearly 12 acres of poppy plantations near Banaungkar Village in Hsiseng Township on the same day. Likewise, an anti-drug squad eradicated about eight acres of poppy field around one mile south of Naryaung Village in Mongtong Township on the same day.
The Myanmar Police Force has been stepping up campaigns to destroy poppy cultivation throughout the country in cooperation with people, local authorities and civil society organizations.—MOHA
