A local anti-drug squad seized a massive haul of drugs along with suspected drug carriers in a car search at a checkpoint in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region on Saturday.
A joint team led by Police Captain Kyaw Swar Tun intercepted a mini-truck at Natyaykan security checkpoint near Zinpyun Village in Ngaphe Township at about 11 p.m. on 2 March. The vehicle was on its way to Sittway from Yangon and was driven by a man identified as Thein Kyaw, 37 years of age from Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State together with his colleagues Kyaw Min Oo, 36 years old from Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region and Aung Sein, 53 years old from Maungtaw Township.
The police discovered 1,300,000 stimulant tablets in the car. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is about Ks. 6.5 billion. The three men are being questioned over possession of drugs by the local police station.—Ma Yu (IPRD)
