A joint squad comprising policemen from Myoma police station and security personnel from No. 537 military regiment seized homemade guns and bullets in a search operation at a checkpoint in Mongyaung Township, Shan State on 29 April.

Members of the combined team intercepted a vehicle driven by a man identified as Ngwe An, 53 years old from Maehoke Village, Tachilek Township at a security checkpoint at about 4:30 p.m. yesterday. They found two men and discovered a backpack containing Ks. 2 million, and one percussion lock firearm, one handmade gun, four bullets and three mobile phones in the car.

The driver confessed that he made the guns to use in hunting. Three men including the driver are being questioned over possession of the weapons by the local station.—MOHA
