Police seized Illegal raw jade stones in a search operation in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region on 29 April.
Under the close supervision of the head of the township police force Police Major Khin Maung Thin, a police squad led by Police inspector Soe Naing Aung from Nabar regional police outpost stopped a vehicle at Nabar junction on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road in Indaw Township at about 5:30 p.m. based on an anonymous tipoff. The police force discovered 110 different sizes of uncut jade stones weighing 107.45 kilograms in the vehicle.
The driver identified as Yin Saung Kway, Pyigyidagun Township, Mandalay Region and his colleague Maw Hsai Phan from Tarmoenye Town, Northern Shan State have been charged under the Myanmar Gemstone Law by the local police.—Lu Aung (Katha)
