Police destroyed nearly 24.2 acres of opium poppy plantations in Ngaphe, Loilem, Hsihseng and Hopong townships on 6 and 7 December, according to Myanmar Police Force.


On 6 December, a combined team including police from Ngaphe destroyed 0.4 acres of opium field located about six miles west of Boe Village, and also 3 acres located about three miles west of Ma Kan Village in Ngaphe Township in Magway Region.


On 7 December, Shan State’s separate combined teams comprised of related townships’ police and authorities destroyed 2.8 acres of opium plantation located about 3 furlongs west of Naung Taung Village in Loilem Township, 12 acres situated about 2.5 miles west of Naung Ta Pan Village in Hsihseng Township, and nearly 6 acres about 2 miles west of Ban Sauk Village in Hopong Township in Shan State.—GNLM (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
