A ceremony to erect a poster seeking the cooperation from the public to eliminate statutory rape crimes was held in front of the staff housing of the township Development Committee in Tada-U Township, Mandalay region this morning.
At the ceremony, township administrator U Hla Win, the township Development Committee chairman U San Yu Maung and Kyaukse District Women Affairs Committee member Daw Ni Ni Aung cut a ribbon to formally open the poster and sprinkled scanted water on it.
At the event, Daw Ni Ni Aung explained that statutory rape case is an offence punishable up to 20 years’ imprisonment. It occurs at any time and at any place, she added.—Ye Tint (IPRD)
