Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the fifth National Sports Festival 2024, U Min Thein Zan, accom­panied by officials, inspected the preparations at various sports venues within Nay Pyi Taw’s Wunna Theikdi Sports Complex yesterday.

 

The Union minister first visited Sports Hall A to view the readiness of the pole vault arena, the installation of back­drop vinyl boards, and the set­up of state and region flags. At Sports Hall B, he inspected the completion of floor installations. After inspecting these areas, he provided necessary directives for further improvements.

 

The inspection continued at other key venues, including the Weightlifting Sports Hall, Box­ing Hall, Billiards and Snooker Hall, Tennis Court, and Training Hall 3, which will host karate-do and taekwondo competitions. He also observed the training sessions of Sepak Takraw ath­letes and emphasized that all preparations must be flawless to ensure the festival’s success. Officials were instructed to promptly address any remain­ing needs and to collaborate across departments to guaran­tee a smooth event.

 

The Fifth National Sports Festival 2024 will feature over 9,200 participants. This includes more than 2,500 athletes and coaches competing in six min­isterial-level sports disciplines, over 6,600 athletes and officials participating in 23 state and re­gional-level sports disciplines, and over 140 athletes competing in four para-sports disciplines. — MNA/KZL
