President formally opens Youth All-Round Development Festival in Magway

President U Win Myint formally opened the Youth All-Round Development Festival at Magway University in Magway yesterday morning, and delivered the keynote address.


Accompanied by Union Ministers Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, Dr. Myint Htwe and Dr. Win Myat Aye, Chief of Myanmar Police Force Police Lt-Gen Aung Win Oo and officials, President U Win Myint left Nay Pyi Taw at 7.30 am yesterday by a special aircraft of Tatmadaw and arrived at Magway in Magway Region.


The President and entourage were welcomed at Magway Airport by Union Ministers Dr Pe Myint and Naing Thet Lwin, Chief Minister of Magway Region Dr Aung Moe Nyo, Speaker of Region Hluttaw U Tar, Chief Justice of Region High Court U Sein Tun, Deputy Speaker of Region Hluttaw U Zaw Myo Win, region cabinet members and officials.

 

Then the President and entourage attended the opening ceremony of Youth All-Round Development Festival (Magway).


Also present at the ceremony were Union Ministers, the Chief Minister of Magway Region, the speaker of Region Hluttaw, the chief justice of Region High Court, the deputy minister for Information, the deputy speaker of Region Hluttaw, region cabinet members, MPs, experts of the respective sectors and fields, heads of department, rectors,pro-rectors, professors, faculty members, students and representatives of civil society organizations, NGOs, ethnic cultural associations and youth organizations.
President U Win Myint, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, Dr Pe Myint, Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Dr Myint Htwe, Dr Win Myat Aye and Naing Thet Lwin, Chief Minister of Magway Region Dr Aung Moe Nyo and four youth representatives formally opened the festival.


Afterwards, the President posed for documentary photos together with Union Ministers, the Chief Minister of Magway Region, the speaker of Region Hluttaw, the chief justice of Region High Court, the deputy minister for Information, the deputy speaker of Region Hluttaw, honoured guests, rectors, pro-rectors, professor, and faculty members, students and youths of the youth organizations.


The second part of the opening ceremony was held at the Convocation Hall of Magway University, and youths who had completed the courses at the National University of Arts and Culture and high-school level schools of fine arts sang the theme song of the festival.


Chairman of the Steering Committee for Organizing Youth All-Round Development Festival Union Minister Dr Pe Myint and Vice Chairman Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi extended greetings and Vice Chairman Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo spoke words of thanks.


Then awards were presented to outstanding students of universities and colleges. Union Minister Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe presented awards to Maung Thiha Aung, Maung Myo Ko Oo and Maung Kyaw Zin Phyo of Mandalay University who stood eighth in team-wise rank and won the Third Best Award in 5th South and Southeast Asia College Student Culture and Sports Week – Kunming (Yunan) football match, Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi to Maung Win Naing Kyaw of Yangon University of Technology, who won the First Prize in Judges Award at the Ocean Opportunities, First Global Competition (Dubai), Ma Aye Nanda Tun of University of Technology (Yadanabon Cyber City) who won Award of Excellent at Optimized, Optical System Design of a Single – Led Backlight, 2019 GKS for ASEAN Countries Science and Engineering Students Program (Korea), and Ma Zin Nwe Htet of Information Technology University who won the Third Place at the 33rd China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest (China), and Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo to Maung Win Tun of Yangon University of Computer Science who won the Best Prototype Award at ASEAN Makerthon 2019 (Malaysia).


Then students of Magway University sang the songs — the true ethnics and beautiful upcountry — in honour of the festival.


After the opening ceremony, the President together with officials viewed the booths of the festival and the display of books published in 2018.


Co-sponsors of the festival are Ministry of Information, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Sports, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Magway Region Government.


The festival, which is open to all, involves English proficiency contests, impromptu talks and poem reading contests, youth talks, recreational sports competitions, sports demonstrations, knowledge sharing programs, the stage show of popular vocalists singing songs to the accompaniment of Myanmar Radio Modern Music Troupe, performances of the vocalists of Peace Music Festival, art activities, employment opportunities and science and technology booths, youth health awareness booths, question and answer sessions for youths, talks on reproductive health, talks birth spacing, roundtable talks on gender-based violence, souvenir shops, ethnic cultural dance shows and book festival. The festival held on grand-scale is crowded with visitors.


The theme of the festival is “A Festival for Well-Rounded Development of Youths” and it goals are the promotion of physical, mental, moral, social andprofessional abilities of youth and the building of the country’s future human society with their visions.


Afterwards, the President and entourage visited the People’s Hospital (Magway) where they heard a report on construction of a new five-storey ward, which is a part of the project to upgrade the hospital into a 500-bed facility presented by Medical Superintendent Dr Myat Soe.


They then looked around the new ward and visited the patients of the hospital.


In the afternoon the President and entourage left Magway by the special Tatmadaw aircraft and arrived back in Nay Pyi Taw. — MNA (Translated by TMT)
