President U Win Myint met with Union Election Commission (UEC) Chairman U Hla Thein and UEC members at the Presidential Palace yesterday morning for a free and fair 2020 General Elections (2020 GE). First UEC Chairman U Hla Thein explained about preparation of voters lists; courses conducted for all levels of election sub-commissions; and work processes for pre-election, election and post-election periods.
In response to the explanations the President gave guidance and instructions regarding forming all levels of elections sub-commissions systematically, proper assignment of polling station head and members, full security of polling stations, demarcation of constituencies, ensuring that constituents have full voting rights and to make sure they do not lose their voting rights, proper and exact preparation of voters lists and conducting proper advance voting. The President also instructed to prevent election crimes and election irregularities, conduct vote counting and election results announcement in accordance with the election law and rules.
