At the invitation of President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind, a goodwill delegation led by President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho left Nay Pyi Taw for India by special flight yesterday morning.


Vice Presidents U Myint Swe and U Henry Van Thio, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr Myo Aung and wife Daw Khin Saw Mu, Nay Pyi Taw Command Commander Maj-Gen Myint Maw, Charge d’affaires a.i. of India Dr Sumit Seth and officials saw off the President and First Lady at the Nay Pyi Taw International Airport.


The President and First Lady were accompanied by Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung, Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Nyi Pu, departmental heads and officials from the Office of the President and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The President, First Lady and party arrived at the Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi, India in the afternoon.


Deputy Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Shri Rameswar Teli, Myanmar Ambassador to India U Moe Kyaw Aung and wife, Military Attache Brig-Gen Thein Zaw and wife, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Saurabh Kumar, and officials from the Myanmar Embassy in India and Ministry of External Affairs of India welcomed the President and First Lady at the airport.


Afterwards, the President, First Lady and party went to the Taj Palace Hotel where they will be staying temporarily. In the evening, the President, First Lady and party visited the Akshardham Hindu Temple where Sadhu Gnanmunidas and officials welcomed them and explained about the religious buildings, art works and the history of India.


The President and First Lady posed for a group photo together with officials from the temples. They also signed the temple’s guest book and exchanged gifts.


In the late evening, the President and the First Lady went to the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi, met with officials from the embassy, military attaché’s office and their family members, gave advice and comments to ensure coordination and presented gifts.


Afterwards, the President, First Lady and party attended the dinner hosted by Myanmar Ambassador U Moe Kyaw Aung and wife.—MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
