HIS Excellency Mr Moon Jaein, President of the Republic of Korea, was born on 24 January, 1953. He completed his school education in Kyungnam High School, Busan and obtained the degree of L.L.B from Kyung Hee University, Seoul.
In 1982, he established a law office specializing in human rights and civil society with Roh Moo Hyun (the 16th President of Korea). From 2003 to 2005, he served as a Senior Secretary to the President for Civil Affairs and Civil Society Affairs. He has also served in various capacities; as Chief Secretary of the Blue House and Chairperson of the Promotion Committee for the 2nd South-North Summit in 2007, as a Chairperson of the Roh Moo Hyun Foundation in 2010, as Standing Co-representative of the Innovation and Integration in 2011, as a Candidate of the Democratic United Party for the 18th Presidential Election and Member of 19th National Assembly in 2012, as a Standing Advisor of the Democratic United Party in 2013, as a Member of Interim Committee of the New Politics Alliance for Democracy and Chairperson of the Nuclear Plant Special Countermeasure Committee in 2014, and as Chairperson of Democratic Party in 2015. In 2017, he was the Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Party for 19th presidential election and became the President of the Republic of Korea.
He is married to Mrs Kim Jung-sook and has a son and a daughter.-GNLM
