Public talks on scourge of drugs conducted in Yae-Kyi

In commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, public talks titled “Youth and Scourge of Narcotic Drugs” were conducted at B.E.H.S-1 in the town of Yae-Kyi, Pathein District, Ayeyawady Region yesterday.

 


First of all, the region MP U Myo Nyunt and an official from the Township GAD delivered opening speeches. Afterwards, staff officer of the Township Information and Public Relations Department Daw Moe Si Si Aung clarified the purpose of the talks. 

 


Afterwards, an official from the Township Education Department explained about disadvantages of smoking and urged the students to avoid drugs and smoking. 

 


Next, Police Major Aung Kan Nyunt from the Township Police Station and an official from the Township Law office discussed about Youth and Scourge of Narcotic Drugs. After which the students who attended the talks raised the question what they want to know on the talks.

 


This was followed by the presentation of prizes to outstanding students who won the prizes in the cartoon and painting competition for International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which fall on June 16.—Aung Thu Han, IPRD
