THE Board of Trustees of the Shwesandaw Pagoda in Pyay, Bago Region, has announced plans to expand the pagoda’s southeast corner platform to 120 feet in length and 28 feet in width.
This expansion will significantly increase the space available on the platform for pilgrims. Once completed, the area will offer a prime vantage point for visitors to enjoy the scenic sunset over the Ayeyawady River and the beautiful view of the Ayeyawady Bridge.
The project is currently seeking donors to help fund the construction. The estimated cost is K200,000 per square foot, and interested donors may contact the Shwesandaw Pagoda Board of Trustees directly to contribute.
Additionally, on 31 March, the 19th annual offering of 1,000 items, including flowers, water, oil lamps, food, fruits, and banners, was held at the pagoda. The ceremony was organized by the Saturday Sweeping Association and the Dhammapalakari recitation group. — Htun Htun/ZN
