THE handover ceremony of the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Tier 3 Rice (1610MT) donated by the Republic of Korea and the Peo­ple’s Republic of China to sup­port the quake-stricken people from Nay Pyi Taw through the Department of Agriculture took place in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair­man U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Live­stock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, deputy mayor of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Development Commit­tee and members, the APTERR secretary-general, represent­atives from Korea and China, departmental officials and quake survivors.

 

The Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman gave a speech, and the deputy minister briefed the APTERR programmes, the AP­TERR secretary-general, the representative from the Kore­an Embassy and Counsellor Mr Ouyangdaobing of the Chinese Embassy clarified the donation.

 

The deputy minister handed over the donated rice to the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, and the APTERR secretary-general, representatives of the Korean Embassy and the Chinese coun­sellor presented the rice bags to the quake survivors.
