Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu on Saturday visited the villages in Gwa Township in Rakhine State, and met with local residents.

The Chief Minister accompanied by the state ministers U Aung Kyaw Zan, U Win Myint and Dr. Chan Tha, Hluttaw representatives and districts and townships’ departmental officials visited the villages of Doetan, Kwyaychaing and Kutoe, and met with the residents living in and near the villages.

At the meeting, Chief Minister U Nyi Pu said the purpose of the meetings with the villagers was to fulfill the needs of the local people. He also hilighted possible requirements in education, health, social and economic sectors, pledging to conduct the short-term and long term plans after giving priorities to the needs of the villages.

In implementing the regions’ developmental works, the Rakhine State Government was drawing plans, and carrying out the tasks related to the respective sectors, said the chief minister, adding that the tasks would be carried out in accordance with the priority list.

Infrastructures such as road, bridge and electrification were given as top priorities for development in the state.

The Chief Minister then called for open and fruitful discussions for the current and long-term needs, promising that the suggestions of the villagers would be coordinated with members of the state cabinet and relevant officials.

Afterwards, local residents discussed matters relating to requirements in education, health, transport, electricity, the rule of law, agriculture, land and dam maintenance. The Chief Minister also presented cash, donated by Rakhine State government, K 1.5 million for the construction of three temporary-bridges on Yeysankwin-Kyaintali road and K 800,000 for a set of computer and printer for Basic Education Middle School in Kwyaychaing Village to the respective officials.
