The local raw salt in Kyaukpyu Township, Rakhine State, is being processed with two large machines purchased with the Responsible Business Fund (RBF) of the Denmark government for foreign markets.


Daw Myat Nyein Aye, the owner of Kyan Tine Aung salt production factory, said, “We have been doing salt business about 15 years. The new machines of screw-type could save the workforce in the production processes.” She added the finished product would have the required norms for foreign markets as it will not include cleaning agents or chemicals.


The auto-filling machines are also used in packing the salt, and the daily production capacity of the factory is over 100 visses at present. The factory owner also said that they have applied for Food and Drug Administration certification for the finished products.


Salt from Kyaukpyu area is sold in the local market, Magway, Minbu and Pyay townships.
