Chairman of Rakhine State Disaster Management Com­mittee Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htin Lin, yester­day visited the multi-purpose port in Sittway to inspect the distribution of relief and re­habilitation aid. They also in­spected the repair work on the strand road damaged by the storm Mocha and the ongoing expansion of the Point Beach circular road.

 

At multi-purpose port in Sittway, he viewed distribution of rehabilitation supplies from MV Fortune and MV Royal Ve­nus to storm-affected areas.

 

Then, the chief minister inspected growing of coconut plants and mangrove forests along Shukhintha beach of Sittway and left instructions on systematic cultivation of shade trees, windbreaks and mangrove forests to be resil­ient of storms.

 

He looked into mainte­nance of the Shukhintha Road, expansion of the beach circular road from Point Beach to Sit­tway Hotel.

 

In the afternoon, the chief minister attended the coordi­nating meeting for rehabilita­tion measures held at the Ra­khine State government office. Officials reported on progress of rehabilitation, and future plans. — MNA/KZW
