A ceremony to provide relief items to flood victims in Kyunsu Township, Taninthayi Region was held at an office of Township Public Services yesterday.


In the township, 17 houses were totally destroyed and 13 houses were partially damaged due the strong winds and torrential downpours hit the township between 1 and 7 August. A total of 172 experienced the risk of disaster. 


Therefore, Myeik District Department of Disaster Management provided cash aids for purchasing building materials and rice and 23 rescue kits with 17 items to the victims. In addition, K 50,000 was also provided to an injured person who was admitted to the hospital. Then, the Township Red Cross Association also provided 20 hygiene kits, 20 shelters, 27 dignity kits to the victims.
