A ceremony to provide relief items to people whose homes were damaged by strong winds was held at the hall of the Township General Administration Department in Ahmar Sub-township, Pyapon District, Ayeyawady Region yesterday evening.

Powerful winds hit Gawdu and Laypinchaung Village in recent days and flipped over the roofs of 39 houses.

Officials from the district Department of Disaster Management under Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement provided relief items including building materials, rice for one week to victims of powerful winds from 39 households in the two Villages.

Staff from the district Red Cross Society also provided insecticide-treated nets, blankets and others to 39 households in the villages.—Win Myint Aung, IPRD
