PEACE cannot be restored in a single day or overnight. Because it cannot be forged so quickly, it does not mean everyone should give up. All stakeholders must work hard and strive so that entire people, including all ethnic groups, can live peacefully and have secure livelihoods and homes.
Now is the time to intensify rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations in the areas affected by the powerful Mandalay earthquake, which caused extensive loss and damage.
The severe earthquake resulted in numerous collapsed and damaged buildings, as well as a significant number of affected individuals, including those who lost their lives, those injured in the main quake and its aftershocks, and those who suffered property losses.
Meanwhile, not only the earthquake victims but also those indirectly or directly affected are hoping for the restoration of peace across the nation. These victims are now bearing the heavy burden of the earthquake’s aftermath, compounded by harsh weather conditions. Their situation is truly heartbreaking. All stakeholders must take into account the worsening living conditions of the people.
It is reasonable to believe that all Myanmar people share a sense of optimism and a positive attitude toward improving the country and the lives of its citizens. Regardless of differing political systems, all living beings, especially humans, aspire to enjoy the benefits of development and meet their essential needs. However, it is crucial for everyone to work together in harmony, avoiding blame and embracing forgiveness in the pursuit of lasting peace. All stakeholders must recognize that armed conflicts ultimately harm and kill unarmed civilians.
In reality, peace cannot be restored through one-sided efforts. All stakeholders must participate in the process of restoring peace, especially since countless people have lost their lives or been injured in various armed conflicts. Moreover, the lack of peace and stability has, at times, hindered rescue efforts during natural disasters. Therefore, it is essential for everyone to take timely action to address these critical issues.
To achieve this, all stakeholders and parties must participate honestly in the peacemaking process. Everyone should act with sincerity and integrity in all their efforts. They must abandon selfish motives and harmful actions and show a genuine willingness to restore peace for the benefit of the entire population. Their efforts toward peace must be grounded in patriotism and honesty while respecting established laws, regulations, and public ethics. All involved should reflect on the lives and hardships of the Myanmar people. If this is done, Myanmar and its people will have a peaceful future.
